Dóra Barta
Dancer and choreographer Dóra Barta studied at the State Ballet Institute and the Hungarian Dance Academy. She was a principal dancer at the Budapest Dance Theatre between 1995 and 2001, and later she worked as the artistic director of the Eger Festival Ballet, the director of Erlau Dance Festival, the soloist of Szeged Contemporary Ballet and the head of the dance department of Gárdonyi Géza Theatre in Eger. Since 2008, she has been the artistic director of Badora Dance Company that she founded, in 2011, she became a board member of the Association of Hungarian Choreographers, and she started teaching at the Theatre Institute of the University of Kaposvár and the Hungarian Dance Academy. Since 2013, she has been the head of Kecskemét City Ballet, the dance ensemble of the city's József Katona Theatre. She received the Dancer of the Year award in 2001, was recognised with the Gyula Harangozó Award in 2002 and the Zoltán Imre Award in 2003, and she was made Merited Artist in 2007. She received the prize for best dancer at the Veszprém Dance Festival (2002), and the prize for best performer at the 14th National and International Contemporary Art Festival (2011). She won the Prima Award of Bács-Kiskun County in 2016. She has been working as a choreographer too since 2000: dozens of her choreographies were staged by the Badora Dance Company, the National Dance Theatre, Szeged Contemporary Ballet, the Gárdonyi Géza Theatre of Eger and the Katona József Theatre in Kecskemét, as well as the National Theatre of Pécs. Her choreography created for the National Ballet was performed at the Hungarian State Opera in 2015, where she has since worked as a choreographer, director and returning artist on multiple occasions. In 2021, she became the managing director of the non-profit Hírös Agóra Cultural and Youth Center.
