Kaláka Ensemble received a Lifetime Achievement Award at KAFF in 2019, in the 50th year of the group’s establishment. A significant chapter of their diverse portfolio is music for cartoons, of which the most well known is the soundtrack for the series Hungarian Folk Tales. From the very beginning, the band has worked with poetry, putting poems, classic or contemporary, to music, and they can communicate with people of all ages. The style of Kaláka is as diverse as the poems themselves, integrating various folk, historical, and even jazz music influences. They have toured in numerous countries worldwide, over 40 of them until now. They are returning guests at KAFF, and as there is life over 50 too, we can meet with Kaláka at the festival again this year.
